Im on a tight budget but want to do something to stand out a little, my question is can you paint steel wheels the same as you would alloys?

dont get me wrong as per the title im not a noob, ive painted cars and wheels before but never standard steels, hmm

We sprayed one of my mates steelies on his VTR, Came out supprisingly well as I only did it in 5 mins down a Indst estate! haha

Nice, in that case I think ill test on the spare and if it comes out okay ill replace them one by one now to choose a colour :/

yes you can spray them no problem.

use a drill and a wire wheel to remove rust and stuff like that then some 400 wet and dry (£1.20 for a pack of ten) then spray with red oxidising primer first (stops them rusting), then your colour and as many coats of laquers as possible

​will look good.

You can, but be careful. Some steel explodes when it comes in contact with certain types of paint

You will need etch primer when painting directly on to bare metal mate.

Depends on the colour of the car and the colour you want to go. Paint them gloss black they would look factory fresh then and not ruin the appearance of the car IMHO.
