Import and u.k.spec

  172

Hi there, Ive noticed a lot of the cars are imports with u.k. spec. Is there any dis-advantage at all, with buying an import which is full u.k. spec? These are 172s im talking about, will i be able to get all the parts i need etc in this country and is it gonna cost me the same as a normal u.k. part etc.

thanks in advance.

all parts will cost the same, the only difference is they dont have alarms as standard or window etching, everything else is the same, some insurers can be funny about imports but most are ok, the only other thing is at resale time as garages tend to offer you less for imports, and some people dont like buying imports either

No any imports are uk spec - the renault alarm but usually have a dealer fitted one.

good news if youre buying because their a bit cheaper.

Thanks guys,

ok, a few questions, sorry.

Quote from guy i may be buying from

" Its a full 2004/2005 spec car. A/c.. Climate.. Cruise... Switchable traction (esp).. the works. If you dont declare the decat then the mods i have on the motor wont cost u a penny. I dont think the decat will either as its a sports cat that doesnt need removing at MOT time.. but im not sure as i havnt declared it. "

If it has been de-catted,will it still pass its m.o.t.?

(Uk Spec Import)

2 years warranty left.

Only mods are a Janspeed Sports Cat.. Powerflow centre section and Powerflow twin exit backbox.

Clifford Concept 500 + G5 accessories (Black Jax.. Intellistart.. Proximity .. etc).

So what do you guys and gurls think?

Always declare mods!!!

but if its a Sports Cat then its OK as im sure itll be included by declaring an exhaust replacement... also it will pass the MOT..alledgedly!!

Doesnt matter what alarm it is as most companys are not bothered (mine wasnt..NU) as long as it has an immobiliser...which it has.

THE thing to check tho is its HPi clear...good luck
