imports

can anyone tell me what is the exact definition of an import, obviously every car is imported into the country, my broker says that any car that is full uk spec, built for the Uk with the manufacturers warrenty is not an import, only cars that are non uk spec. e,g, LHD etc are imports, or the grey japanese stuff that is not sold at all in england!!, when I sell my car in a few years, how do I describe it, as everything including documentation and spec will suggest its a dealer car.

cheers

From what the renault dealer said to me mine is an import because when he checked the vin it had benn registered abroad b4 being registered in the uk. It is still full uk spec other than you dont get the alarm fitted like when you buy one from a renault dealer.

Mines an import because it was imported in to Britain by a non- Renault dealership....its EXACTLY the same as a uk car apart from the alarm and it cost 2 grand less than at a main dealer.

It was made in the same factory and has the same warranty and is full uk spec. Dealers dont like em coz they dont make any money on the sale but are quite happy to carry out warranty work and services, well mine is anyway ;)

so, even if youve got a broker to get you a car direct from renault, and it was registered as you being the first keeper, and england as the first place of registration, does that make it an official non import car??
