Impreza type ra

  Z4
Just a quick question more than anything: what the funk is a 'type Ra'??

I've seen one for sale not far from me, looked mint from what I saw of it (driving past it!). It was a hawkeye in grey.

I only saw type ra badges and wrx, does this mean its just a standard wrx or something more? Cba with a wrx, sti+ for me...

RA = Rally Altered

basically a lighter weight version without most of the creature comforts (electrics/AC/etc..) and lighter weight panels, i'm sure they have a shorter gear ratio aswell

Being a Hawkeye, it could be a Spec C RA....basically THE daddy of all Scoobs.

But yeah, lightweight version, close ratio 'box. Raw.

sounds awesome! I may make a cheeky purchase...any idea of power? My dad has the type uk sti at around 270bhp, although I know some of them have been RR'd over that.

The engine is stronger, it has close ratio box, lighter, no stereo, wind up windows, 5th injector (though its non functioning)

Thats if its a classic chape

It's a hawkeye....still lightweight though. If it IS a Spec C, break the bank for it, you won't be disappointed.

On the classics it's the STi Ra that has the "stronger" engine, i.e closed deck block, although very early WRX's also had the CDB which was phased out to only being used on later classic STi's.

lol! Helpful? No. Funny? Yes.

What confuses me, is the engine...Is there such thing as a wrx ra, or are they all wrx sti ra's? Scoobs have far too many models!

Yes there is a WRX Ra and an STi RA.....there's far too many models in all honesty, but you can't beat anything that has the STi RA part in it imho.

Our last 2 rally cars have been based on the STi RA with DCCD gearbox. In comparison to my old road car Scooby, which was by no means standard, the STi RA are leagues ahead.

Early classic WRX Ra will be, again, age dependant, ~240-260bhp....not really up on the newer models, as i'm purely a classic Impreza man tbh.

As said, it's the hawkeye, 2007 iirc.

Sounds interesting... providing it can tune to 300bhp+ easily (map/breathing) coupled with the lightweight I think I'd be happy

Having driven both id prefer the scoob everyday.

Although generally the Evo handles better.

Easy! My WRX was running 307bhp 299lb/ft. That was running TD05 turbo (standard on early saloon imports) 440cc (yellow) injectors, Walbro 255l/ph fuel pump, completely decatted exhaust, HKS induction kit, front mount intercooler and mapped on Apexi PowerFC management. Not a lot could touch it on the roads around here tbh
