Impromptu London Hybrid meet

  '92 172, Lotus Elise
We've not had many mini mk1 meets recently (odd for the summer?) and I was a bit bored this afternoon

so a quick call to Jay-s later and the beginnings of the F4R:F7R Summer was afoot! :D

We met up and had a quick blast and pulled over for a few pics

very interesting to compare Jays car to mine... ;)

Jays car is very quick as it has a few mods. What's the crack with yours matteh? Bog standard 172 engine or mods?

I'm not sure of the actual spec of Jay's F7R, but I know he's had work done (and his car is stripped more than mine)

but it was close

I think ultimately it came down to the gear choice because I'm running a long ratio diesel box which obviously hampers straight line acceleration

on most of the runs (from rolling) he'd eek forwards but on the last 2 we did it was pretty even, though maybe he was being kind ;)

off the lights I think I was slightly quicker too? but I think I got a better launch

I'm pretty happy considering mines just a group n'd (rstuner) engine with some dremeled inlets :D, that I built on my driveway lol

:edit: and yeh, mines the one on the willy wheels. wasn't expecting any comments as its a bit tatty :dapprove:

and whilst i'm on Cliosport, I can mention that my mpg dropped to 35! damn :rasp:

Awesome. Jay has cams, headwork and a remap iirc - about 190bhp? So that's a good result for you imo.

  Audi TT 225 Quattro
sweet pics matey:cool: was a good little meet even if i had to leave early, we'll go for a longer drive next time;)

i was trying from the lights mate honest just you got much better traction and was off:eek: i honestly reckon i would have major problems if you were using a valver/172 etc box as its deffinatly got quicker with the new map....:D

for anyone interested my spec is an F7R ( real mans engine;)) piper 270 cams, supersprint manifold and a remap, that little lot is making 177bhp 139lb/ft for now.... begining of september im having a fully worked apd head and piper 285 cams fitted so will be hoping for around 190bhp....

Looks like a good meet :rasp:
