what sort of sound do you like?

IMO:

if you want noise isolation: shures or sony do some good ones nowadays
if you want bass: skullcandy - all varieties
if you want clarity: grados, top end sony's, top end shures.
if you want iphone ones with mic: Moda ones.
if you want sport ones (sweat resistant): son'ys new active range or seinheiser sport range are good.

i've never used the bose ones but i've heard they're pretty average tbh.

Depends how much you want to spend. If you are on a budget then a number of people will suggest the CX300 which are £15 from Amazon (apparently the £5 ebay jobs are fakes and not as good).

I find them MILES better than the headphones that came with my new Nano.

However as I said the other day I bought the missus a Shuffle and curiously hers sounded just as good with the packaged headphones as my Nano did with the CX300's...

Another vote for the CX300's.

No doubt someone will argue the Bose are better, which they are, but for £15 I'm more than happy with the Seinheisers.

I had a set of v-moda vibes for my iPod touch - the cable inside plug broke.

Then when I got my iPhone I got the v-moda duo's (with the mic) and they done the same thing.

Good while they lasted and wern't too expensive with work discount..
