Indicator turns off while braking

  Toyota MR2 GT Turbo
So I just got some new rear lights, nice 'n chavvy :)

I fitted them and rewired them so the correct lights came on, now everything works as it should but if I indicate left (you start hearing the clicky sound) then brake, the clicky sound stops and the indicator stops indicating.

As soon as I take my foot off the brake the indicator turns back on again.

Is this road legal? I only ask because I need to drive to work later :/

I suppose I can bake before the corner, then indicate, then turn the corner but I really want this fixed.

When I brake with the indicator on, the dash back-lights dim

It might be the earth, and being pretty stupid with electronics I have NO idea how to fix that...

I don't think its faulty wiring since both the sets of lights do it, as soon as I get someone round my house to help I'll upload a video.

EDIT: Turns out when I brake with the front lights on, the lights at the back turn off and the brake lights turn on, when I lift my foot off the brake it returns to normal...

ITS ALL GOOD!
My girlfriends dad came over and had a look, spent about 4 hours in the freezing cold, turns out I had to switch a few wires round and earth it.

Still no rear fog light though but we shall sort that out before my MOT on a warmer and brighter day :p
