Induction kit cones

Hi Everyone,

Thinking of getting a new induction kit filter cone. Currently have a K&N kit in (previous owner), but the filters pretty knackered even after a clean. Came across three universal air filter cones which seemed reasonable on demon-tweeks:
k&n for £51

pipercross foam top for £45

pipercross alloy top for £34

Would each of these make the car sound different? And is there as much difference in quality as in price? Would much appreciate any and all advice.

Another option I'm considering is to get an original airbox off ebay, found one for about £30. No idea what the car sounds like normally, too refined?!

Best,

Mo

I run and personally would recommend an ITG cylinder foam filter. The one I run is a jc67/70 and from camskill is only around £42. Cotton type filters are never that great in my experience

Cotton (in my experience) do not filter as well as foam. A foam filter that is regularly cleaned correctly and oiled correctly will filter better.

As for noise...all I can say is that my ITG is loud

I would say the complete reverse of that. On turbo applications (where it's more important) I would always us a cotton gauze filter as they filter better. For NA it's a little less critical as you don't have delicate compressor wheels going 100000rpm which a small piece of grit is enough to chip or even smash.
