Induction Kit for CUP

Ive been given an induction kit (big vent feature located at the front of engine attached to nice bit of Samco) made by Simota which was got on the cheap. Having compared it to those supplied by other manufacturers for the Clio and other cars (eg: 106 GTI), it seems to be very much the same, seems pretty well put together and has a cotton gauze cone filter. However, Ive read some stuff on the forum about these units leading to performance losses.

Any comments, etc would be appreciated.

If its similar to the Pug Sport one for the 106 GTi then it should work very well...

Only open induction kits cause power loss.

Think thats debatable too, my open pipercross causes no bother, not even in the summer.

Generally they do...

Ive had open induction kits on 3 cars now and not really had any problems, but Rhys did some AP-22 timings with various filter setups and it was slower with an open filter!

must admit i had one on a few cars and they havent been to good, ok if ya fancy a bit of noise from ya engine its ok if that tickles ya pickle, it helps if ya get some pipes so the cold stuff can get to it, so they say.

this induction kit debate will go on for years

the hillpower one with the heat sheild looks pretty good for the 172 i think.thats what im getting i reckon.

Thats what I have, but I didnt expect to hear people talking about performance losses! Apparently Hillpower will be doing these in carbon fibre shortly.

i want it colour coding to the car.i think keeping the heatsheild silver is best because it would be more heat reflective.how much was it gmdh555?
