induction kit question..

  EK4, 632 on black, Mk2Ph3
are induction kits worth putting money into??
i really like the sound of one... but which IK is good for my clio?

any good suggestions pls? links/prices would help

thanks! much appreciated!

P.S. i hav a 1.4 16v clio 04reg :boring:

Nope waste of money they just ook good/sound nice

If you search there is probably hundreds of threads about IK/ panel filters gains etc..

Pair of tights over the intake is your best bet!
Seriously though open induction kits suffer from heat soak although they make a lovely sound, i had one and I wasn't bothered but you will lose power rather than gain it, a good cold air feed reduces this.
In terms of performance a decent panel and an uprated cold air feed is best.

If that sound is what you like then induction kits are exactly what you want. That's what they do best. That's about all most of them do.

Dude a full on air induction kit does give you a power gain of abot 1kw, not that much but its still a gain. and yes you will get the sound out of it. However if you want more of a power gain just finish off a stage one conversion, once you got the induction kit get the exhaust replaced with a free flow (without the catalytic converter) and then get your onboard computer remaped. Once you done those simple mods you will have completed a stage one conversion and can gain anywhere between 11-14kw.

but yes a cold air induction kit is worth getting. Small power gain and reaches the revs a bit quicker!

peace

What you are saying is kind of correct but an open IK isnt going to help. An enclosed one may help slightly but not worth the 400 quid (maxogen) they cost your better off buying a panel filter and exhaust system for thast price

wot decent cold air IK is ideal? would one of those cold air feed pipes be needed? im not hopeing to spend TOO much on it... as its my first car...
An IK sealed at both ends better than one with the filter showing?

Yeah sorry i didnt realise he was talking bout an open IK, then you right it is a bit of a waste of time, stick to a panel filter. you could however buy a seperate heat shield for the IK and an induction pipe to re-route the cold air towards the filter, could have close to the same effect as a cold air IK but better to buy the proper kit or stick to a panel. 400 quid for a cold air IK?? what a rip, im currently staying in Poland and i can get a K&N cold air IK for 100quid for a renault clio II 1.2 1998 (thats my ride). wow you guys got it hard!

400 quid for a decent one on the 182/172 (the only one worth getting really

much better of with phase1 airbox cheaper and i bet theres nothing in it

No need to go all out on a Maxogen, a Pipercross Viper, BMC CDA or a simota can all be had for around the £150 mark.
I would still go for a panel though.

wots panel? (sorry im noob) T_T

okay! shall look into those IK! thanks very much!

A 'panel' filter is just a simple aftermarket replacement filter for the standard Renault unit. A lot of the time they're not panel shaped at all.

  850 T5. mmmm Turbo!
like above, for a decent mod get a panel.
i had a 1.4 with a simota carbon filter on it. it was a closed system and sounded really good.

cost about £90 of ebay new.

i wouldnt go spending any more than that tbh.
a ph 1 airbox is a good mod, but im not sure how youd get a pipe to it from your throttle body. which is rear mounted iirc.
