induction kit sound

has anyone got a recording of a clio 172mk2 or mk1 with a good recording of the engine sound after n induction kit has been installed??

the best way to find out how it will sound (sort of) is this:-

lift the bonnet, on the right hand side you have you air box with a pipe connecting it to the engine, what you want to do is loosen the jubilee clip at the engine side and pull the pipe off then start the engine and go for a very short drive, when you put your foot down youll here a tremendous sound from the engine, it sounds like a 911, it will give a very exaggerated idea of how it will sound.

i must point out though that this isnt good for the engine so if you do try it, dont drive it for long.

Lucky if you get any power gain, although it does feel better at the top end in mine (piper X IK not viper) seem to get a bit more pull in 3rd and 4th at the top end. No serious change in the cars behaviour at all tho. Reno actually did a superb job of the original.

I somehow doubt an induction kit will make your car seem like a Porsche..and why a 911 imparticular? Also..a Ferrari?! Get real..that sound is distinctive because of the firing order..something the Renault doesnt share..especially as it has half the cylinders!!

Induction kits sound good, but once you have an exhaust on, youll wonder why youve bothered.

You wont get a gain that youll feel unless you spend a disproportionate amount on a rolling road and a new unichip or something..

No, but theyre slightly louder and have a slightly different note.

Got a Viper on mine and my mate has an open cone filter, so I know how they compare and I prefer the Viper myself.

robfenn i wasnt saying that it sounds exactly like a porsche, i meant its a great sound (like a porsche) i wasnt being technical and i didnt mean it would go like a porsche, im sure jonnyboy didnt mean it that way either, dont take things so litterally mate.

i got an inducyion kit on my 1.2 and its sounds meaty when accelerating. if u put one on a 172 i think itd smash widows. yipee
