induction kits ..... what one.

I must admit, if you brought all the bits seperately it would maybe cost more!

Airbox - £60
Filter - £40
Silicon Bend - £50
Crankcase Breather Filter - £10

Total -£160

And Jms are doing it for £148 and you dont have to do the running around to get the bits. Very good price if you ask me!

do you really need the silicon bend? Id buy the airbox and race filter.

Not interested in the bend or crank case filter. Had one of them on my old car and it just smelt of buring oil at the traffic lights.

They say the the standard elbow is restrictive and creates turbulence because of the flexy part. I dont believe you can buy the race filter either as Jms had that made. But dont quote me on that.

What's the function of the crankcase filter?

Just to filter anything from going into the crankcase I presume?!?! Tbh you want to speak to them about it really. All i'm saying is that for the money there asking for the kit, its not a lot of money for what you get seeing as there are terrible induction kits that lose you power for similar or more money!

I sorted this for under a ton

Okay, all brand new or second hand?

And as I have said already some people may want to just buy the kit to save themselves running around to find bits. Obviously you can DIY your own one for less like the one you've done. I've done the same with the setup i've made, made all the heatshield and sourced the pipe/silicon myself. But did take a bit of looking around to find the bits I wanted.

The Race Package - £188.00

Thats with the race and road filter. Alot of monnies

The 182 figure they got with the filter also had a remap, inlets and decat by the sounds of it, reading that thread

2nd hand. Like I said, I think their package is good value. And unlike most other kit, it's been tested and we can see the results of those tests. Took a while for me to find all the seperate bits as well, had their kit been available I would of gone for that instead.
Amazing that people will spunk hundreds on an itg because it looks pretty.

i've got a pipercross IK but im sackin it off and puttin the standard box with a panel filter back on but removin the cold air feeds. definately noticed it bein a bit less responsive with the pipercross on. sounds fat tho.

Your telling me, I think its ludicrous! I guess its fashion over function for some people, unlike for ourselves! :)

Youtube Simota. I was thinking hard about getting a ITG Filter in a standard box, but figured i need quite a bit of induction noise...hmmmmm

The 182 figure they got was purely filter related. The other mods the car had BEFORE they started......and if it was Tom's car they used then its not decatted.

Yes it is, its just not ASBO loud ;)! To reiterate the car was exactly the same between testing.

Thread has all the details, people can make up their own minds about the kit etc.

We found the Samco bend to have a very 'sharp' 90degree to it and were advised by SFS to have one made up with a far more progressive bend - compare the two following images:

i've just put my standard airbox (ph1) back on and jibbed the pipercross. absolutely spot on.
dont waste money buying an induction kit, just remove the cold air feeds. sounds much better than an OTT sound of an induction kit and retains it's original snappier throttle response. well impressed with it!

I'm all for the home made induction kit like mine, but it does mean relocating the battery.

Other than that i'd go for the JMS Induction set up, very good piece of kit and the graphs prove to give decent gains for half the price of the expensive kits!

Nick Did you experiment with different setups/filters etc? Surely having an open kit would be better like you have it as when at speed the underbonnet temperature drops enough so that just a heatshield will work and make it more effective?

I am going to have a go and see if there is something that I can fab up and do some testing etc. Watch this space

id say stick with the standard box, it seems to be the best performer from what iv read, if you want nice noise you can pop a better panel filter in and smooth and drill the airbox, have done this with mine and it sounds much better and only costs you the panel
