Injector Removal

  Clio 172
Hi,

I have an annoying misfire on idle but there are no engine lights.

I have a sonic cleaner and want to clean the injectors but dont know how to get them off. There is what seems to be the bottom of the inlet manifold, a big cast piece of metal in the way. I can see cylinder 4 injector but not the others.

I was just wondering if anyone can give me some guidance on hoe best to remove the injectors?

Thanks

Sounds like you are talking about the fuel rail guard. There are 3 holes on the front edge of it, 2 of which have 10mm (I think) bolts in. You will need to squeeze an extensive bar up them to take out the bolts and remove the guard. The injectors will then be revealed.

So the 2 holes at the end, 1 for the FPR and the one at the very end of the rail newxt to where the FPR should be left open?

Doesnt petrol leak from them?

Injectors cleaned, fresh gaskets on the inlet manifold, changed the order of the spark plugs, cleaned the throttle body but the small misfire is still there on idle.

Coilpack or leads???

Its just on idle, Dan. When you turn the engine on and the RPM is a tad higher it is ok. But when the RPM settles down to around 800 it just seems to skip and you can feel the engine moving a bit when it misses.

Ah cool. I am buying a spare coilpack and leads off a mate for a tenner so can always just try swapping them over and see whats what.

I think the fact that I dont get the misfire when driving leads me to agree with you.

Cheers Dan
