Inlet Manifold

  Clio 182
So who can supply us with this? and I think they can also take my old one and give a new one?
Anyways, i have a 182, shall i go for it? will it make a difference?

Basically the standard ports dont match up very well to the inlet, the gasket and the top plenum. The quality varies from car to car. Having them matched improves the flow of the air into the engine. Quite a few have said it improves power mid range. Most 182s and some 172cup have a slightly improved manifold as standard that has RS stamped on the front. Owners that have these get less gains out of the work but they are still nowhere near perfect. In the pic below the port on the right has been matched and smoothed.

thats what i heard, do these fit the phase 1's though?

is there any real point in getting a cup / 182 inlet and matching that over say my original phase 1 inlet

The worse the cast, the better for the porter and final result.

Only worth getting a RS stamped inlet if your not going to do any port matching

well that was what i was told, "get an RS inlet instead", thats were the 182's gain a fair bit of power

and that was from quite a reliable source..

It makes no difference what so ever what inlet you have if your porting mate.

RS inlet is said to be better cast out the box, thats all. :)

what i am saying andy is i was lead to believe that the RS inlet already gave you a bit more power generally....if this is the case then by theory if you port both you should still have a better bhp from the RS fanimold

Not really, in std form the rs is better over the non rs version, but when they are both matched they will look the same, the rs lower is slighty more wider over the non rs version as std.
I bought a spare 172 inlet to be polished and matched as i'm not in a hurry.

not in theory or reality!!

rs manifold flows marginaly better, your re working it to make it flow even better so your not going to get any more gains when worked with an RS than you would get with a normal one.

RS Inlet is meant to be a slightly better cast factory vs say the stock 172 one.

The process of porting only takes any inlet up to the size of the stock gasket so as a result ALL inlets will be the same after porting.

Unless your running stock inlets in which case the RS would be the better choice theres no advantage in which one you have for porting. End result will be exactly the same
