instant messaging on my website

I want to have a instant messaging service that I can use on my website. I already have a blog and a forum, so just thought why not have a instant messaging thing as well.

Any good free ones out there~?

What forum software do you use? There's lots of chat addons for SMF, TP comes with one built in as well.

You should find that you have a choice been an irc style that updates automatically with nicknames down the side and an old school style that updates when the browser is refreshed.

Personally I use a Tiny Portal front end and use the built in old school type. I tried the auto updating irc style but the members weren't keen.

With the built in TP one it works with the members forum accounts so they can't login pretending to be someone else.
