i'm lookin to buy a 2000 clio 1.4 16v si.

best quote i've had is from Directline:£1800 fully comp :( with passplus.
i'm 17 with 5 months drivin, no claims or convictions in coventry postcode area.
wots the deal with mods with directline though cos some people say they don't cover modified cars at all and others say they cover like 4 like.:S
How does this sound to every1?

I tried Adrian flux, said i had passplus and that i was a cliosport member and they quoted £1800 tpft!

Try adding some named drivers on, i got quote £1000 on my own fully comp then i added my mum and my sister and it took it down to £600, i was chuffed.

Dont know what direct line are like for mods tho.

Wish I had known that before I got mine!! grr will try that one this year :)

To be fair 1800 sounds about right, that car is a group 5 and you are 17.

I paid £1466 for mine which is group 3 and I was 18.

I did a quote at 17 and it was £2000 but turning 18 knocked £200 and with passplus knocked £400 off

yeah quoted £2200 without passplus so it's definetely worth doin, its the equivalent to 1 year no claims.
i'll try adding my mum or dad.
anybody know what directline's attitude to mods is like??

if i was you i would go online, and try a quote with tesco's - do the quote in your mum or dads name and you as a named driver and prepare to be shocked at how cheap your insurance will be,

they were 2grand cheaper than any other insurance company i tried (03 l72)

hope this helps

^^ it all depends on your area and the insurer really. some insurers like certain areas some dont. various other factors to take into account to.

03clio172 - if he was to do that and crash the insurance would be unlikely to pay out.

no, ive gotta get insurance in my own name. i went down the route of being a named driver on my 1.2 but i crashed and my mum lost her no claims! she wernt happy to say the least.

  renault clio 1.4 si 2000
i have a 1.4 si m8, exactly the same. im 23, first car, bein drivin less than 3 weeks when i got it. 1100 through quinn direct, but tesco's is v. similar. thats fully comp, dodgy area, only me on it. i got it at only 850 when i bought it in scarborough, moved to sheffield, 250 more.
seriously tho, its cos its 98 bhp, the quality of the ride is worth it, but if its really too much, get a 1.2. but then again, if its only a few hundred in it, go 4 it!!! its a gr8 car!!! :)
