Insurance companies, who do you use?

I would like to know the various companies people use on here, broker's like Adrian Flux or companies you directly deal with like Direct Line, Hastings etc. I've just got a quote for my 2003 172 with declared "mods" suspension, brakes, exhaust basically and I wasn't just shocked, I wanted to strangle so eine with how ridiculously high the quote were.
Anyway, let me know who you're with and how much
Thanks
Bren

🤣 lucky for you! Good job you didn't give em any details they would say they didn't insure that type of car.

Im absolutely shafted when it comes to insurance on the Clio as it requires a specialist ADI and modified car policy in one and in my 6 years of searching Adrian Flux are the only broker who will entertain me. So this year when my colleagues were complaining of 150% increases in premiums but were able to get a reduction by shopping around I was absolutely bricking it because I can’t shop around. So this year when the renewal invitation dropped into my inbox I procrastinated somewhat about opening it to delay the horror I was most likely to receive.
To my absolute delight it had only increased by £27!

🙌🏼

The Megane is with Greenlight and year on year they retain my business because they always come out cheapest.

The Meerkats have been doing me proud for the past 6 years, latest policy on my 172 Cup is with Co-Op (I think) at £231 fully comp, 8,000 miles per year with 10 years protected no claims and only modification is the exhaust.
Flux wanted £960, Greenlight were £680 and my renewal from Sainsbury's was £1,200 despite only paying £295 for the policy that was expiring so prices are all over the place.

Tbh it's a bit pointless asking for suggestions on insurance as it's all down to individual circumstances and what each company wants to think about those circumstances. A good price for 1 person from Flux for example can easily end up being utter toss for someone else with the exact same car as yours. The best and only thing to do is shop around as much as humanly possible & just go with the cheapest you can find

Greenlight, all mods declared, running 280bhp - Under £500

If it ever goes over £500 I'll start comparing elsewhere, but happy with what it is.

Currently Ageas on the daily and Footman James (Ageas underwritten) on the M3.

Sterling did a decent quote for the M3 too.

Been with Adrian Flux and Lancaster whenever they've come out cheapest.

I'd say suggestions can be helpful to give others ideas for who to try, but sharing prices is meaningless unless your circumstances are directly comparable: age, record, and most importantly postcode. Try getting a quote for a modded car in East London...

I've always used specialist brokers and underwriters for my toy cars, as they are modded/imported. This year, my previous insurer refused to renew me on my 182 after I moved to a higher-risk postcode. I made many phone calls and nobody would insure me until I finally found a policy from Keith Michaels, underwritten by LV Highway. Interestingly other brokers I contacted had also tried LV Highway but were refused, so it seems Keith Michaels have some special sauce.

Keith Michaels for me too, Gary Moulson is the guy to speak to. I had a big claim back in 2020 and KM were the only company to be miles better on price, if it wasn't for them I wouldn't be back in a modified car. The last 2 renewals have been the same price, I was half dreading renewing back in January this year as it's been well documented for big price hikes but thankfully it stayed the same as when I first insured with them.

Gary's a decent person to deal with too which helps.

My Clio is on a classic policy with agreed valuation using the broker Brentacre. Been with them for about 4 years now.
