Insurance for 1.2?

  Jap Box
Hi,

Just wanting to know who would be best to insure with for a 1.2, im 18.

I can have the car put on a a company car again but then I wouldn't gather NCB I don't think? So I wanted to get it in my own name + policy, but quotes have been around £3k

Adrian Flux are giving me a cal in about 30mins hopefully to see what they can offer. looked on the traders on here and their all 19+ to get a policy.

I only want third party F+F, no point getting fully comp as if crashed I wouln't want to claim on the car as my premium would go up.

Tried comparethemarket and their all very close to £3k, also the car is coming up as a Clio Sport 16v when its acually a 1.2 Dynamique :S I always have to change that each time.

Thanks if you can help :)

Have you declared your crash?

EDIT: Wait a minute, who covered you for your last crash? Surely that policy would still be in effect as that was your first car and it was only last month?

Just go on the company one, NCB makes bugger all difference till ur 21.

Kerry I don't understand this. You got your first car last month, you totalled it, you must have been insured. That would still be running today so unless you've cancelled your policy I can't see why you're looking for a new one?

The policy was cancelled, well my car was removed from it anyway. New one would have to be added on again.

ah I see.

Try Admiral. Cheapest for two years for me.

Good with young drivers as they're such a huge company they can afford to effectively undercharge you.

I'm 18 with Admiral on my own policy £1200 fully comp.
I have got one years driving experience though, but that was only as a named driver.
Put one/both of your parents on your policy as named drivers that drops the premium.

LOL @ the Admiral quote.

That crash has really screwed you! Feck paying 2.5 grand!

Oddly it hasn't raised them more than £50 odd :S they were always around that price anyway which I found stupid. Might see if its any cheaper adding mods to the car with Flux as some people have said it has lowered their quote, worth a shot I suppose.

No idea if Flux reduced price because I told themI was a club member of here, they asked if I was though.

Like said, add your parents. This really does help!
The best one to add is a female over 24 with a driving experience.
I added my sister and she brought my insurance down 20%. I was gobsmacked to say the least!

On phone to Flux again now to see price with mods added.

Flux quoted me £2958 with car being lowered, tints and strut brace on front (Had to think of 3 random mods on the dot :rasp:)

and raised excess to £300

Think I will be going on company policy again, not much hope here and it's costing me over triple the price of the car.

Yeah, Ive got my Dad and my Auntie on mine and it brought mine down alot.. I also said I parked it on the street and that was cheaper than saying I parked it in a garage.. that's with Elephant.

Odd that being on the street it lowered it more :S I told Flux either garage or street, whatever is easiest on the night lol

I know thats what I thought! I thought it would of been cheaper in a garage or even on a driveway.
