INSURANCE ISSUES! PLEASE HELP!

  O4 Dynamique
Hi all,

Right two questions i need answering, firstly, what happens if i put new springs on my car (to lower it 35mm) and i dont declare it with my insurance? Please someone give me a sensible answer.

And the second question is also about springs, if i fit them two my car, will the invalidate my warrenty with the renualt garage??

this is worrying me so please can someone help.

Many thanks

Simple, when you have an accident the insurance company will refuse to payout.

Warranty will kinda be void, but as long as it's nothing related to the springs you'll be fine i.e. your exhaust rust through then they can hardly blame that on the springs.

But if you can afford to write your car off and get nothing back for it.

And don't mind paying out for any other damage you might cause then dont worry about it.

I totaled a £20k subaru and killed a £10k fiesta, i'm just glad my insurance covered it otherwise it would have been time to do lots of overtime.

so how much extra do u think i will be paying if when i declare my springs? So say something goes wrong with me car that is nothing to do with the springs, then my warranty will be fine?

I tell you what mate, I f-ing hate renault dealers, they really will try and get out of anything when it comes to paying up for stuff with the warrenty.

Pah!

the only way to know is to ask your insurance company, it depends on who they are, how old you are etc.

I'm with elephant and they just charged me £50 for wheels, springs & exhaust but i'm an old git, 34. But they may not allow it or they may want another £500 who knows.

I know renault dealers are s**t when it comes to paying out, best wait for someone who actually had springs on and tried to claim to reply and see what they say.

u'll be suprised what other dealers blame faliures on to get out of paying for it.

my engine mount failed on my 2005 mini cooper s (common fault) but because i had lowered it 20mm on eibach springs they refused to fix it under warranty.

It wont invalidate your entire warranty, just the part that fails, I.E if your door fell off due to faulty hinges they would still replace that wouldnt mention it to the Renault garage but would defo mention it to the insurance co.

My 04 Cooper S also on Eibachs had an engine mount fail but this was replaced under warranty, depends on how customer focused the garage is I guess.

I cringe at people who don't declare their mods - it's not fair on the people that do, and keep everything right :dapprove:

I know of a local guy round here put a bigger engine in a Corsa without changing any insurance or taxbook details. Someone hit his front bumper in town and whatever claim he made with his insurance has now left him without a car :D haha cheating baxtards
