Insurance on my Clio

  Clio Sport 1.2 16V
Ugh, since my accident last month insurance has been a b**ch, I took out a policy with Elephant for roughly £2200 per year which worked out something like £202 per month? Now I had a letter through the door saying they didn't add on my modifications and they are now adding £336 on top of what I am already paying for tinted windows and alloy wheels!! I am moving out to a new house soon with my partner so I got a re-quote from insurance companies and my lowest quote is £1700 (up to roughly £1900 with all fees and what not) with FluxDirect, now I am paying £2500+ with Elephant and I have only so far paid my deposit of £200 and my first payment is on 28th May 2011.. I have contacted them regarding this and the huge price difference and how they have just slammed this stupid price on a full time student who barely even earns £200 a month in wages (Just to pay off car insurance!), does anyone think I should switch companies or could I bring Elephant down in price? From what I remember they are a partner company of Admiral? And Admiral gave me a quote for £1900(£2100 after all fees) and thats with everything declared too.. So I am really stuck here, its only a 1.2 Clio this insurance is driving me crazy

They didnt add your modifications or you didnt declare them?

They were declared on Confused.com I even just checked the quote was still there, they didn't say anything on the phone so I thought it was all ok, then I get a letter through today saying that "new information on the system has come up", its crazy, especially when they are not even performance related or major.

Why didn't you just go with Admiral in the 1st place?

Although I'm wondering more how you're going to live with your partner if all of your wages goes on car insurance?

Edit: usually only specialists like Flux, Sky, etc let you have non-performance mods for free. Everyday companies do not like mods in the slightest.

Because Admiral didn't come up, Elephant were the cheapest, now I am moving in to this place, it will have a garage so I changed the quote to how it will be in a week or two..

Also how? She works :p I get Student loans which will help a bit plus we have got some savings and I have managed to get some over time out of my works now, its gonna be tight if I am gonna stay with Elephant.

I hate comparison sites, I don't even bother with them. I found cheaper to go direct. You may still be able to get a refund from elephant (especially using the change in price as a reason) which might be worth looking into. Admiral and elephant have always provided quotes within a few pounds of each other for me for years. So a strange one to be so different.

Also, be warned come renewal time, elephant will give you a massive quote. Go to their website direct and get a new quote, should be significantly cheaper than renewal price.

Haha so you're a kept man, nice one. Unless now ur becoming her b**ch ;)

Done it through the phone, didn't go on their website, got the quote and reference and phoned them up, hoping to have a reply back from them tomorrow now.. If they are not going to be able to bring it down then I am switching for definite.
