Insurance or Solicitors

Car  Titanium Clio 182
I was told to go through a solicitors instead of going through my insurance company (elephant.co.uk). I rang them up and they said I don't need to ring my insurance people as they will do everything. They will get my car repaired with a courtesy car and they will get me some personal injury claim "whiplash".

Has anyone else went through solicitors rather than your insurance company after an accident. Also they said I will not end up paying any excess.

you were not at fault then?

if you wernt ring the other persons insurance, and they can do it direct.

If you claim whiplash, you can never claim it again. Also you will be hammered for insurance due to your claim.

really?! is that a new rule?

thank god. evry c***s claims it. why cant they do better checks?

You can only claim it once. Not a new rule, just you cannot claim it again. They cant check it due to it being an internal muscle injury. So most people claim it as they can.

If you've got legal protection with elephant then do it through elephant.

When I had my accident, I rang up tesco insurance, explained my accident etc and they asked if I wanted to take legal action to claim for my injuries. I said yes and was contacted a couple days later by a solicitors and then sorted everything with them, ie. injury claim amount, doctors appointment, extra claims for excess, loss of earning, extra hire car (lucky if you get that!).

Tesco sorted my courtesy car and payout for my written-off car. I'm sure this is how its done, it worked perfecty.

With regards to the injury claim, I think once you've claimed for the injury once, you cannot claim again later on for the same accident. But I think you can claim whiplash on separate accidents.

well my cars been fixed now and a fantastic job they have done!!

I will probably try my Insurance next time, just to see what the difference, BUT hopefully there won't be a next time.
