insurance question

just bought a 182 to which i rang my current insurers (PRU) to tell them that id changed from my pug 306. The price they wanted to transfer was far too high. 98 a month for the remaining months on my policy. just had quote from sainsburys for 600 for the year (massive reduction). i now want cancel my insurance. got told on the phone that it will cost me a months installment to do so but in there t&c`s it says the remaining balance of the premium which is a lot more. anyone else had this problem. loads must have and what they done??

Im looking to leave mine as well (Tesco) but i was told i cant cancel
Id have thought it fair game not to refund the month your in but charging another is a bit steep.

why cancel the insurance?

its just lost money then because you arent getting the ncb?

im at 5 years already so i dont get discount for anymore. sainsburys is 300 quid cheaper than what they have quoted me for a full year but made it even dearer for the remaining 5 or so months i have left. for the price of what they want to charge me for my remaining months i can have a years worth at sainsburys

o right, fair enough then.

if your on a direct debut just cancel it, they cant do anything then can they, if your not wanting to be covered by them anymore and not paying them?

send them a formal letter saying you will be cancelling your insurance, at the end of the month and that you will no longer be paying them etc.

gonna ring and find out. either way im cancelling even if i have to pay the outstanding balance which cant be much as my pug insuarance was 300 and summat do i can have that much to pay off. i`ll still be saving by changing rather than staying with them the rip off gets. guy on the phone wouldnt even match the £875 quote id done online with them because that was for 1 year!! i was like WHY NOT U FOOL. insurance companianies are a law onto themselves. with all the tricks they do im surprised there is no government ombudsman to stop their crap. what they charge for young drivers is a disgrace and how they treat eveyone is too.

The FSA regulates it as well as the Financial Ombudsman.

all sorted. rang them this morning and played dumb. said i had sold my car and wasnt getting a new one. the woman said id get a rebate for the remaining month id already paid and didnt mention a cancellation charge. now just gone with sainsburys for £602 with 25 quid quidco cashback so £575 really. pleased wit that :rasp:

i had 2 policys at one point tesco wouldnt insure me on the 172 but i couldnt cancel as i needed the years NCB so was still paying for the insurance on the 1,2 after i had sold it
