Insurance Question

I haven't checked out the following but looking for guidance before going any further with it.

I am giving my girlfriend my Clio . I have a motorbike to get to work on and my Clio is 'better' than her car so we are selling her car.

I am fully prepared to transfer the car into her name and get the insurance in her name with me as a named driver (I will still use the car on rare occasions) if that is required, however, I am not 100% certain it is needed.

If I am still the registered keeper of the car and the insurance is in my name, is there an option to select her as the main driver? I am NOT asking for a 'sly' way to 'front' and I ain't 'frontin'.

The reason I ask is because if the car changes names, it'll be another owner (it could come back to me at some point, so there's two extra owners) and i may be cheaper to be insured in my name with her as a main/named driver.

It may seem like a silly question to some, but I genuinely don't know if the policy holder HAS to be the main driver.

I think the policy holder has to be the main driver. If not, then your 17 year old son could be the main driver on a policy your nan has.

I'd phone and check with them though.

Yep, owner doesn't have to be the main driver with some companies.

I did this when i was 17 with my mum, she owned the vehicle and was the policy holder but i was the main driver. Quinn and more than did it for me back then.
