Insurance - questions

Which one of these will make the insurance go up the most?

body kit - front, sides and bumper (bumper is off 172 sport)

16" Alloy wheels - worth £500

-40mm springs - worth £70

bucket seats - worth £500

Rear lights - worth £60

Spoiler - worth £100

Is it what the "mod" is worth? or its chance of higher chance of getting damaged? Like front bumper has a more of a chance getting damaged then the spoiler.

Will putting on -40mm springs, make the insurance shoot up?

Basicly they will all shoot up the insurance a fair bit.

The only wayyou will find out for deffinate is ringing the isnurance company up first. And asking them for a quote!

Remember depending on who you are with....they may not insure you with mods or put it up to a silly amount or maybe just a small admin fee

normally, if an insurer covers mods, then as long as it doesnt increase performance, top speed, or acceleration then they wont charge too much (again depends on insurer).

So bodywork mods and alloys wont be too bad, but its the suspension drop that will either put insurers off, or will push the premium up the most.

Best thing to do is to try confused.com and any other online insurers and get loads of different quotes, all with different mods on it. that way you can see how the value of the car, mileage, any additional drivers, and mods will affect the premium.

Im with admiral and they allow up to around 6 mods for a certain fee. i found that by adding my father as a named driver on the policy, this brought it down as well.
