Insurance re-newal help

  1 Series Coupe
As mentioned in another thread.

I had my renewal in on my car insurance it is: £1236.90 which is £700 cheaper than last year.

I have just done a new quote online and it has come in at £1054.20. Exacly the same details as shown on my renewal.

Have i got a leg to stand on on if i call them up?

If they dont play ball, can i not renew the insurance and take out this new policy?

Cheers

Matt

I'm with tesco too.

Wouldnt it be a better idea if they checked the re-newal prices over current quotes to save all this hassle? lol

Elephant are exactly the same with their renewal quotes - they wanted £275.00 mor than the one I got online.
I rang them up & gave them the reference number & asked them to honour it - which they did (and they will if they want your business)

It's an old trick that I used to do every year.

Ring up my current insurer as a new customer and the price quoted was always lower, then I'd either call the renewals dept who would match it or just cancel the policy and take out a new one :)

Always call up when you get a renewal quote saying it's too much and the price will always come down, they bank on most people not questioning it and just taking it so are a bit cheeky with the quotes.

Just rung them today, and the guy coudnt do anything about it over the phone, and just reccomended me to not re-new and take out the new quote online. So thats what i am going to do.
