insurance when no longer owning the car

Bit confused if this possible.

My car got written off. I went through the other persons insurance as it was their fault and didnt effect mine. I got a lump sum and now the salvage company picking it up.

Now i paid for my insurance yearly and still have 3 months till it expires. But i don't own the car. Do I ring them up and let them know to which they remove the car from my insurance but can i still freeze it until i get a new one ? As i'd rather freeze it, get new car on it which might be in a months time then carry on for 3 months then renew to which i get another 1years no claims. Because if i cancel it now and i find a car and get new insurance i can only tell them the no claims i had even though i only had 3 months left till i could get an extra no claims

you can freeze it yep then when you get the new car change the car.

Tell me your insurance company know about the accident?

yeh they know as i rang them first and they advised me to go straight through her insurance
