Was just thinking about this whilst getting insurance quotes yesterday.

When you add a women (mum/aunty) as a named driver it reduces your premium.. what if you just made someone up, i.e. a quite old women thats been driving for years? Insurance wouldn't check that she existed in the event of a crash?

It's just a thought, i don't condone insurance fronting etc

lol, tis a good point, i dont see how they could check, if you were the one driving they wouldnt need to ask about any named drivers

Exactly what i was thinking lol. There is no reason for them to check, as you would be the one driving.

What if you named three or four imaginary females on the policy? Would that reduce it even further?

Yeah, someone like a friend of the family whos ancient and likely to be buttons to ensure. Who knows, ive never done it!

You probably could do it, I know people who have gotten away with stupidly fraudulent insurance policies when they crashed. I wouldn't risk it though.

I added my girlfriends dad and he's never been anywhere near my car but reduced my premium by £200. Can't see anything wrong with it, he could have come and picked us up in it after a drunk night out I guess because he doesn't drink.

He was only a named driver after all.

think in principle you'd get away with it, however, i think in the eyes of the insurers it's still prob fraud so personally wouldn't risk it - I always have that mantra ringing in my head about if they have ANY excuse NOT to pay out, they'll take it.

However, nothing to stop you putting an obliging family member or neighbour on?
sorry to be a party pooper :)

No real need, just use any family member. I've got my mum, dad and bro's misses on mine. reduces it 80£!

i had to take my old boy off after he crashed his saab twice in a few months, but £490 for clio 197 with 3 points, fully comp 7 years protected no claims bonus and 12 months interest free to pay it off isnt to be sniffed at! egg insurance underwritten by uk insurance ftw
