insuring a daily runner and a weekend toy?????

  535d / t5 caravelle
need some help/advice please on how to go about insurance, here's the situation, i'm currently on a traders policy as a named driver and have been for over 2 years now, this policy is due for renewel just after xmas, but i need to get my own insurance again otherwise i will end up losing my no claims bonus/dscount.

I have a pug 106 1.5 diesel as a daily runabout and a williams which i intend to use just for track days and possible weekend use, so the milage would be quite low per year, how does anybody suggest i go about insurance?

Should i try and get 2 different insurance policys? is there a way of insuring the williams for limited use? can i get one policy to cover both cars?

whats the best solution and who should i try?

HELP................................:D

you can limit ur millege and tell ur insurance ur using it for social/domestic & pleasure not commuting so that will save ua bit aswell

Yes you'll have two policies & you can limit your milage etc etc to get the price down even more.

Privilege will give you a second car discount, basically you get your no claims applied to 2 policies. As the policies are separate you can do what you like in terms of restricting mileage, changing cover etc. Worked out about £16 a month for my wife to insure her old car this way whilst we tried to sell it.

getting quotes of 1200/1300 quid, rip off!

seems to work out cheaper insuring them both seperate and with seperate companies, best look into other options of insuring the willy now, well the best may?

The prob you have is having 2 very different cars to insure, and they are probably better off with 2 different inusrers.

Options:
Get policy on Pug, using NCB. But using a company who will temporarily allow you to add Clio as 2nd car to same policy on temporary basis (not all companies will allow this), this is likely to be done by the week @ a cost, and there likely to be limit to number of days/or number of times per year year you can add Clio. This may be best way to do it if Clio really will get very little usage. Try Privilegde as think they allow upto 90 days temp add car cover per year (obviously check this with them!!)

Or, get proper policy on Clio using NCB, but take off extras legal/courtesy car etc. Then get 2nd policy on Pug on Nil NCB but getting you a 2nd car discount. Pro's: both cars constantly insurerd, and you will earn 2nd set NCB on Pug policy.

Or, have you tried admiral multi-car policy?

tried admiral they wanted 1250 quid to insure both.

got a price of around 250 on the 106 and 435 on the willy both through norwich union direct off the internet using my ncd for each qoute, they say they will mirror my ncd, so in theory i should be able to insure them both for under 700 notes...................................lets see when actually ring them up though!
