Intake port matching and polishing

I've just had my RS intake manifold vapour blasted to clean it up.
Very pretty as photo below, could swear it has been painted silver.
However I'm not really into bling if it doesn't help you go faster.

So, matching the ports on your intake tracts makes sense. Or at least making sure the downstream port is slightly large than upstream, and that the gasket doesn't intrude.

But what about polishing the tracts? Some say you need some roughness to create turbulence to get a good mixture. Others say the smoother the better.

For example, this picture of the cylinder head ports. Is it best to polish those ridges out, or would that cause ignition issues?
Help please!
