Interior light timer

Bit of a geeky trivial question this but here goes


When you close the door on a Clio the interior light stays on for a few seconds before fading out.

Is there anyway you can adjust the time it takes to turn off or even better have a switched based ''door closed light off'' system?

Is it not a capacitor that just stores a set amount of power and keeps the light lit for a few more seconds? (Could be entirely wrong by the way just my thoughts) if so I think you would have to be handy with electronics to find it, desolder it and put a bigger/smaller capacitor on depending on how you want it.
