Interior light won't stay on

  Renault Clio 1.2 MK2
i recently put a blue LED light on the interior roof of my car, when the doors open it turns on and then off once the doors closed like it should but when the doors and I try and turn in on it won't turn on! Any ideas?

The power flows in opposite directions when you open the door/turn it on manually. You can either use a bridge rectifier, two LEDs in opposing polarity, choose which way you want it round, or upgrade to the map light.

Would you be able to put that into like plain English? Sorry I'm not very techniqual when it comes to stuff like this! The old bulb worked fine but since putting the LED bulb in it won't work when I try to manually turn it on and when I tried to put the LED bulb into the boot light, it didn't work at all!

LED's can only be used one way round, as the polarity can only be used one way. Try turning your boot bulb around. You'll need to upgrade to the map light in your car which I use with LED's no problem.

LEDs only work one way around.

If you turn it around, it will work manually but not when the doors are opened.

This is because the current flows in opposite directions depending on which of the two methods is used (doors/manual)

Easiest thing to do is buy an interior light unit with a map light, which doesn't have this problem, but it is possible to make the tilt-light work with some electrical know-how.
