Intermitant Start Issue

  FF RB 182
Hi everybody.

Apologies if this has been asked before or is a really simple issue.

Basically over the last 3 days, my 04 plate 182 has had slight issues starting in the morning. When I try starting it for the first time it starts very reluctantly (ie goes to 500ish RPM for a second and then to a normal idle) or doesn't start at all.
Then on the 2nd attempt, immediately after, it starts fine, no drama whatsoever. It also sounds and drives fine.

Is there anything I should be looking at as 1st port of call to sort this? My 1st thought (rightly or wrongly) was the air filter but it's only 6 months old and the car has probably only done 2k miles tops since then.

Apologies again if this seems trivial but any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Rob

Sounds like the fuel pressure regulator losing line pressure over night, which is fairly common. Try turning the key 2 turns (but not to start the engine), then off, then forward and start. This will prime the fuel pump twice and should start straight away.
Just a thought
