Intermitent grinding sound whilst braking

I currenlty have a grinding noise when i brake - i have checked the pads and they are not bare. any ideas

Yep, you could very easily have dirt trapped within the calipers mate - not hard to take off - it may just be a pice of grit. That is the most likely answer if the pads are in good condition. it hasnt affected the breaking has it?

Brakeing is fine will try and get teh caliper off this weekend if dry

check your disc condition as well(front and rear)
