intermittent front speaker

Hi everyone this is my first Post!
-will introduce my car at a later point!

I own a base model, 2010 (expression I believe?)

It has the standard ICE setup. Since buying used in November (only 22000 on clock)! The front passenger side speaker seems to work intermittently. It will come and go, sometimes i can leave the car with it not working, and when I drive it next it works fine for a up to a week. I've noticed, if it goes, if I pump up the volume sometimes it will burst into life!

I/a few friends have some general electrical knowledge, but before we Poke around does anyone have any ideas?!

Broken/worn wire through door grommet id imagine, if not that then a loose connection at rear of stereo (but would expect the latter if stereo hasn't been removed)
