^Plus.Net went bad when Pipex took them over, before they had all that bad boy pipe and other throttling methods employed they were a good ISP. They went bad and I went to F2S, who also went bad.
Zen/Newnet/IDnet are about the only ISP's i'd recommend atm. Zen is and always has been a superb ISP.
Think you're confused. Plusnet is a PLC and has never been taken over by pipex, nildram is owned by pipex.
You're not wrong about them going bad though, a year and a half ago they were a superb ISP, but eleventy billion product changes later, numerous porely worded announcements and retractions & spin they've been well and truly flushed down the toilet.
They throttle connections after 10GB of traffic (if you are on premier), their email service has been down more than a prosititutes knickers lately and they seem intent on introducing more and more new stuff before getting stuff working. Have a read over at adslguide.org.uk forums to see how poor their service is.
I was with plusnet for ages, and even after all the bad stuff that went on I stuck with them until speeds got so bad (I wasn't in the "throttle zone" either) that I changed ISP, low and behold by "broadband" connection became broadband again.
The words barge-pole, plusnet and wouldn't touch spring to mind.
I've not had any issues with nildram, 50GB (*download* limit peak) is good value for money. Zen were also excellent but that's 20GB upload/download anytime.
