IPAD 1 Sim Lock

I just bought a brand new IPad 1 3g off Ebay. Is there anyway of finding out if it is locked to a network? I have a Three data sim card and it says sim lock or something, but the sim works in my unlocked iPhone.

Isn't it just the unlock code for SIM ?

Yes, i want to know which network. Otherwise I will have to try all the main networks data sims.

Might have to trek to apple store.
