iPhone data logging

  172
Does anyone use one of the cheap eBay Bluetooth obd readers in conjunction with an iPhone to monitor live data?

Before I waste money on one, wanted to know if they are any good.

Would like to be able to monitor coolant temps on the go ideally!

YES! (but as above, wifi!)

Get a wifi ELM327, then use the DashCommand app.

Works great on everything I've ever plugged it into. 1000000000% recommend.

So works on clios perfectly then? Kind of tempting.

It *should* work on any car with OBDII sockets - that's the whole point of them. Certainly if the RSTuner can pull all that data out, then I'd expect the ELM can too.

I may have to invest in that app if it's a good all-rounder.

It's a very well done app. As good as Torque is for Android. I've got gauges set up for various things like AFR, Coolant Temp, Exhaust Temp, Intake air temp as well as GPS speed.

Doesn't work well on my Ph1
Considering an RSTuner gets all the info out of the ECU - this doesn't seem to work for me coupled with HLT.

And I don't want to spend any more on an app that's not going to function because my cars OBD is not supported.

I think these really only work well on PH2 clios 172 / 182 with can bus systems . That's my thinking alway .

Cool ordered a £10 dogleg from eBay.

Will give that app a try, just need to keep an eye on a few things easily, sounds like a good solution.

Only interested in basic stuff don't even need it to read codes just tell me temps and stuff

What do you use? As I have been looking at getting a phone app to OBD reader for my Ph1, and like you don't wan't to waste money on something that isn't going to work well.
After things like code reading, sensor information, live information and any other useful stuff like that

I am using HLT Grand Prix edition with a Wifi dongle .
Prior to that I used a Bluetooth dongle with a jailbroken 4s phone and it was the same , no info out of it at all except battery volts.
I will look into it further at some point but don't have time ATM .
