Iridium plugs?

  E30 318iS x2
Another question :rasp:

I see these special Iridium spark plugs advertised, any noticable difference in them really? I'm planning a few other mods and wanting to clump a load together for an all together better out come.

i was told not to change from the standard plugs on the 172 as it causes something very bad to happen.....cant remember what but i was told dont play with it! :p

obviously depends what engine the car is, as some dont have an iridium equivalent (the 172/182 engines for example). its very minimal difference as the metal is just a different type designed with a finer point to give a better spark, thus in theory making more use of the ignition system! plus they do last longer imo, and combined with things like uprated leads (again where appropriate) you can start to notice a difference, especially on more highly tuned cars.

lets face it though, spending 40 quid on the "normal" spark plugs lasts a good 5 years of 72k so its not alot of money really for how long they last :D
