Is 4.2k too much for a rb 182 on 103k miles

Mileage etc...

£4200 seems quite cheap - average depending on the other factors including mileage, condition etc.

103k, where has it been the moon and back. Oooft. Definitely not 4.2 at those miles, saying that though some people are wanting ridiculous money for those on 50/60 odd and look at the prices of 172s. Depending on its condition inside and the bodywork then I'd evaluate price that way.

i wouldn't pay 4.2k for an rb on that milage. id be selling mine at 4.8k standard with 60k and belts done.

Id pay 3.5k for that max - but would push for more 3k

I think thats expensive, however I am not an expert on car prices.

Put another way if it was my money I wouldn't be spending it on that car.

Hope that helps

Wouldn't touch it 2bh mate, unless you know it's been perfectly looked after you'll spend the entire time watching the mileage clock knowing it's going to die soon

Parkers Say with 110K miles.
Private good = £3570.
Private poor = £2425

I'd probably give £3200 if all servicehistory and recipts are present.

Its for a weekend/fun car so not really bothered by the miles mounting up.
I was thinking more around the 3.5k mark tho and that was cos i love the colour. lol
Thanks all

Iain, I'd have said £3.5 - £3750. Remember this is ClioSport and as such; a)everybody loves destroying the value of their own cars and b)everyone is scared of a car above 50k.

Check its got a decent history and crack on!

:D

A modern engine like these should be good for 200k as long as they're look after. The fact it's done this mileage suggests a lot of it's motorway/commuting. Go off the service history/condition, £3k is a giveaway IMO and is just going with the strange theory cars don't work over 100k miles.

Also, the fact it's being advertised at £4.2k can hint that the owner believes it's worth it despite the miles. That might sound a bit daft as sellers want the highest price but it can be a guide sometimes to the condition of the car.

Should be able to get more like 5.5k for it no? £4.8 sounds a bargain for the mileage/servicing.

Doubt it mate. RS's value seem to have gone well down :( I would like to think id get 5.5k for it but realistically I don't think I have got a chance.

Will see when the time comes anyway, as im still loving it :D

No this will be a 2nd car mate, im having a early (i hope) mid life crisis!
Ill give it a good going over on the weekend, there was a trophy here on 170k still running!

I have a Twophy coming in in June......

There are many RenaultSports with well over 100k on the clock on here, I can think of a few, all of which have had a fairly hard life. A well serviced modern car should easily see 200k. This 100k fear is silly, it's not 1960.

Cars don't combust when they hit 100k.

Look at Fletchers car. It's on 120k-ish and still as strong as ever. If you service them and understand that the consumables (mounts/suspension/brakes) will all need replacing then there really isn't anything to fear.

Looked after they will be fine, as iv said a few times mine gets looked after and it gets a good spanking and is on 134k and taking that with ease

One of the few who speak sense, anyone scared of high mileage needs shooting tbh.

At that mileage its had its belts done, quite possibly had the clutch changed, brakes should be fairly recent. As long as its been maintained I'll take a high mileage car any day of the week over one of these 35k shopping cars which have only been serviced at the mileage intervals rather than the yearly ones.

In america a 100K+ car will still go up on a main dealer forecourt, its only because our country is so small we have a fear of high mileage cars.

In my driving history I've had 1 low mileage, 1 average and 2 high mileage cars, the only one with any problems was the average one.

The only worthwhile reason for getting a low mileage car is for the re sale aspect imo, look at that volvo Daniel was selling, and he said it ran well which I believe but it still seemed a cheap car, if I had been in the market for one I'd have snapped it up.

As for the OP's question, I'd pay around £4k for it if it was is good condition with good history.

Stop selling yourself short, you've been reading to much crap on this forum!! If it's a tidy standard car it will go for good money. Most of the other "mint" ones you may be basing a market value on can in reality be tatty. Of course I don't know the condition of your car! Also, if it's modified maybe not as easy to sell. But generally when you look on Pistonheads/Autotrader there are a few 182s at £6k+, these are likely to be the better examples around. Sub 5k / £4.5k may infer it's not as daft as that sounds.

My 205 GTi Mi16 has 180k on the clock, fair enough it's not in fantastic condition (bodywork wise) anymore but it's been used as a track car since 2001 (but is full road spec) and the engine actually has done 180k and it's still as quick as it ever was.

what bosh said !

i got my 182 "was" mint (just needs 2 new front tyres ! :P and a wash/wax) 54 plate on just under 59k (now its on 66k and only had it about 3 months ), it was 5k

I here what you are saying fella, but I haven't based my 4.8k on guesstimates off of here. Look on PH/AT etc. My car (mint condition (well it would be when I sold it, wheels refurbd etc) is worth about that price as thats what they seem to be going for on that milage. No matter how you look at it, milage on a Renault will effect its value fairly drastically IMO.

Yep. I give my car hell on a regular basis, and as long as it's looked after (FRSH) they should go on for a long time.

I hope to get at least 200k out of the engine :)
