i have a spare supercharger off a bmw mini cooper s and a large top mount intercooler it's so tempting to try and figure out where i could squeeze it in!

they seem to be the only drive in /out Clio tuning shop.

exactly, some other un-named companies however mess people about on delivery, fitting dates, leave people waiting about etc etc or never actually finish the job in the first place... yet all of this goes un mentioned and why? because certain people with forum influence dont want to hear it and protect them, yet allow other decent hard working companies to get bashed and flamed for 20 page threads. this is further compounded by their 'mates' who dont actually have anything done to their cars other than an air filter and make ridiculous claims of how good they are... sorry, but what's this based on? lol

And as jph172 says, we've had this flow thing come up on WC... suffice to say excuses were made and no results put up...

more on topic,

gdi carried out extensive work on my cup, they worked damn hard on it, they went slightly over the timescales, but at the end of the day they only charged half the labour rates for me and was a sound quality final product

Would these be the same people that get a remap and an air filter then take the car to a rolling road :clown:

Got to love 'em!!

Can somebody please moderate this thread!

Nobody really cares apart from a few people who probably don't know the full stories anyhow.

Slightly off topic- i WAS refering to a thread quite a while back from a company claiming to make 7-8bhp increase on modifying an inlet manifold- i asked for proof as i would of been more than happy to shell out if it was true, they NEVER posted any proof apart from their no1/no2 members of staff posting useless information then a request was made for the thread to be 'TIDIED UP' and my comments were deleted!
So in this case i reckon ALL comments should stay as this is a DISCUSSION FORUM is it not, weather you drift in and out of topic its all relevant to the thread.

I have seen very little proof of any tuning companies packages. Ja.jack has independent RRs of his car but who else has had there car RR'd before and after work on another companies RR?

Jesus, its worth coming on here just to read your comments. You really dont give a S**t. I like your style

On topic, if you want to spend 1.5k on it then Id say go for it, yes it wont add any value to your car but if you fancy something a little different (as opposed to just buying a faster car) then Id say go for it.

As for GDI, I have never had any dealings with them myself but it appears that the majority rate them very highly and they seem to do far more work on 172/182 than any other companies

I agree with this. I think some members aggressive posts spoil what could be an interesting thread.

OK, so I come back to see my thread turn into a fight? NICE!

Anyway, back to topic.... sometimes some people dont want a a faster car but want a faster version of a car. I dont want a new car, I want a faster 172. Bought this Clio now want it to go faster so no point in saying "get a faster car!"

I've looked at loads of companies but none seem to really say "pay this, we do this, this is what you get" except for GDI who also have a good Rep

When's Mark getting his induction system, will it be fantastic, when will it be in general production? All very reasonable questions Ben. I want you to succeed in all your endeavours cos its to my and all the other Clio lovers benefit.

He's getting it soon, were all working on it as fast as we can.

And i wouldnt bother doing it if it wasnt fantastic, and it will be available to the public when mark says he is happy.

We dont rush things, its a well known fact.

The difference is in the details, and if you dont understand the details, you dont understand jack (not you). You'd be surprised how far some people get on very little ability, and a whole load of smoke and mirrors. I find it frustrating because the general public dont know the questions to ask and trip tuners up.....if they did then they wouldnt be calling i suppose. Blind faith and a whole load of luck.

Was that smoke and mirrors comment directed at an erstwhile partner lol ?

He speaks very highly of you also lol.

Not directed at anybody, think or make of it what you want.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/partner

Those are the definitions, of which none were applied.

I dont want to go any further, someone will just end up crying and i have too much ammo and not enough restraint.....you've already lured me into bickering.

Without prejudice

Tom, did you get my PM?

Yeh cheers, good to get an opinion. Had a few now, pmurray has giving me a tempting offer! The money isn't too much of an issue, just would rather do the mods in stages.

Have you done anything to your suspension/ brakes?

Tom

unbelievable!

I dont think a mod should lock this thread, everyone is entitled to an honest opinion on there feelings, be it Fred, Jesus or whoever, i dont know any of these personally but read with interest their posts.

At the end of the day if Fred or whoever wanted to "poach" another potential sale or whatever he could PM the person instead of posting on an open forum, did you think about that? He openly mentions the fact that there are other options. I think that is fair enough, also Jesus i value and respect your comments and I am not siding with anyone.

Back on topic.

Tuning to me is a matter of preference and what you want to achieve, I think putting £1000's into an engine IE: a KTEC/BBR turbo conversion is stupid, these can cost £6000 ish. A 1.8t VAG unit can be had for around £1000 / £1500 ish i believe with already forged internals so should be good for around 400bhp.

Getting a company to have that unit fitted into the MK2 shell shouldnt be a problem, im not sure of prices as im not a tuner but lets say you pay someone £3000 to fit it, you have paid about £4000 for a 1.8 turbo conversion with the easy potential of 400 + bhp and also probably recouped £1000 for your old 172 engine, so £3000 for that option instead of £6000 for a conversion on an engine that wasnt designed to take a turbo in the first place...

This is just my view, im not a tuner and have no wish to get into an arguement with any of them on here as i dont know much about professional tuning but im sure with the example ive given someone will put me right.

Tuning your original engine like I myself have done is okay until you start paying £1000's for a 20bhp gain say.

Ring all the companies mentioned and others, get a feel for the people you speak to, their advice, prices, turn around time and after service then go with which one you feel comfortable with.

good luck

end of chat.

Sorry Mark, just get bored of any thread mentioning GDI or tuning and in comes Fred pushing products and ramming them down people's throats. I'm well aware that there are other companies out there that 'offer' the same products and services, but the good ones dont need to bang on about their own stuff on here all day long... probably because they are actually busy making fast cars... or doing something at least...

Well people have both positive and negative experiences with all companies and products. Fred has paid is fiver so let him rant on.

As a car club it's important that we all share them to allow our peers to made more informed decisions.

Edit:- Just about to post the same thread Ali did.
