Is my air filter standard?green mesh filter?

  Megane 225 Trophy
My new 182 has been quite hesitant when cold recently and I checked the air filter to see if needed replacing

Its not a paper filter at all but a bright green mesh filter. very tough looking filter and very clean

are these standard? if not what kind offilter is it

thanks Simon

it's a performance one

It's CALLED a performance one but in reality, it is likely to reduce your performance. I bought a 182 in January and it came with a crappy pipercross cone filter. I can't wait to buy a standard airbox and get it on there, the renault one is well designed (apparently) so there is no need to change it unless you want an induction noise (increased sucking noise) when you stamp on the throttle. Don't get me wrong they sound quite good (mine does) but they reduce the engines ability to breathe.

so is this performance panel filter in my car actually restrictive? I only ask as I'm not too bothered about the noise would have better performance

no it shouldnt be, will just save you having to change the paper ones at servcies ect, its the open cone filters where you will get heat soak and lose power

A replacement panel filter can only really do good as they are less restrictive and make use of the well designed airbox, it's the cones which you have to look out for(especially if they claim to give you +10bhp!)
