Is my car 'Superchipped' ?

  Italian 3.2 V6
Just a quickie, I have been told my car has been 'superchiped' But there is no proof...

If it has Does mean the car should rev to over 7k RPM like what happens to remaps etc?

My car kicks in at circa 5k and revs to 6.8k RPM. Only other mod is a BMC Induction kit. (indicating it is standard and not chipped, hence why I'm
unsure)

Cheers, PSJ

I wouldn't say it is considering mine has the edge over yours;)

Get in touch with the fella you got it off and see who done it for him, then contact them as they should have records

I thought 7250rpm was the standard limiter? if its remapped it will rev into the redline, mine its remapped and the limiter is raised to 7500rpm

uh? wtf? lol. explain more please fred or danny..?

but yea only revs to 6.8k... warmed up obv as i would never rev it to that cold!

  53 Clio's & counting
Up to a cirtain coolant temp, the car has a rev limit of 6800 rpm, once coolant temp reaches a set temp, the limiter is raised to 7200 in the first 2 gears then 7000 rpm in the next 3 gears

Think the cold limiter applies below 84/85 degrees.

Old thermostat will open too early and the engine wont get up to temperature quickly enough, if at all. Shocking number of clios have never had it changed, and take a very long time to warm up. The sensor is often wrongly balmed

^^ is this bad for the car? if so i will have to get it sorted ASAP!!

i will have to take the car out and try it and see what its like in some of the gears tommorrow once its nice and warm!

Back on topic tho, is it superchipped or is there no way to tell?

in the very long term it could be if oil and things aren't at optimum operating temperature, you probably shorten the life of the engine, but modern oils are pretty adaptable. You'll mostly notice better economy when it's running right

hmmm gay!, is it an easy thing to get looked at!?

MPG wise, i usually get 30-33 but can get anywere between 38-42mpg on trips over 200miles.

-Fred, whats the crack if its the sensor gone and not thermo.

Mines 6.8 then 7.2ish after it's had a good long warm up.

Just been and checked.

2nd and 3rd gets to 7.1-2k RPM so all is ok! Goes to 93mph in 3rd @ 7.1k RPM.

So now all is ok, has it been Superchiped!? No?
