Is sheepskin ok for drying?

  monaco 172
Hi there, I'm going to do a mini detail next week as the car is looking a bit shabby at the moment lol.

Currently I use a sheepskin leather to dry my car after a wash. Is this ok or will it cause damage?

Also do halfords sell a decent material for Buffing off the wax?

It will cause marring buddy.

What are you trying to achieve? Correction? Just a damn good clean? Give me an idea and I'll help as best I can.

Just a dam good clean on a tight budget.

Products I currently own are a good wash Mit, auto glym extra gloss protection, auto glym srp and auto glym shampoo.

So I'd like to use what I've got and would like to give it a clay and possibly a wax to apply after the extra gloss protection.

So basically I need some wax, clay and a good drying towel and a good bit of material for buffing off polish.

I4D blue drying towel with the red lining is awesome for drying. It's in the I4D sale now and you can get extra discount when you use the members discount code

do you want to mail order (i4detailing.co.uk generally do next day delivery if placed by 2pm.) or just head off to halfords?

You can pick up a meguiars or autoglym clay kit with clay, lube, AG comes with microfibre cloth as well I think, all available from Halfords. I'd consider using a tar remover before claying as well, AG instant tar remover is a always easy to find, or tardis. halfords also sell a megs drying towel thats not half bad. plenty of different types available on line

as for wax, layer up the EGP after the SRP and it'll give a lovely shine and not bad durabilty, apply more layers once a month after washing to keep good beading. I used it for ages on my LY. So I've been told EGP isn't a great base for applying wax's over

It'd be nice to go into halfords to collect everything as I'm very rarely in the house so waiting for delivery is a pain.

But if they don't sell anything worth gettin then I'll have to mail order.

Right so I should WAx before egp?

no need to wax then apply EGP, wash, de tar, clay, SRP, then either wax or seal with either colli's 476 wax or EGP sealant. most bits can be found in halfords for basic cleaning.

Most importantly, don't foget to use the 2 bcuket method when washing.

There is not a lot wrong with the list you've provided above, for your basic wash, polish and seal. The same old question applies of how far do you want to go? How long have you got etc.

Wash two bucket method, rinse, clay, SRP and then EGP or Wax with a durable wax.

As a recent "hater" has found, washing your car and protecting it well once will make it a hell of a lot easier to wash next time around.

2JZ. Washed the Escort today and the s**t just fell off. Hardly had to clean it at all. In fact it was tricky to see where I'd already been. Super slippy paint FTW!
