at the moment sky are charging £180 to fit sky+ along with a box. But im wondering if you can buy the parts seperate and DIY?

is there a cheaper way to get sky+?

I've you've been with them a while, phone up and cancel, telling them you want SKy+ functionality but aren't paying through the nose for it. tell them you're going to BT vision or Virgin

there is an offer on for free sky + and installed for free , if recommend by a friend there is a code on the internet somewhere.

BUT you need a second feed from the dish to your box.
If you know what your doing its pretty easy job.
If you only use it with one feed to your box you will only have 1 tuner active. So can only record 1 item etc...
I got mine totally free last year as Daz mentioned on the recommend a friend offer.

i called sky and as an existing customer got it for £49 for box and installation
Got it for £49 and got a new box. Signed up at a local shopping centre. IIRC reading on avforums.com Sky will be reducing Sky+ to £49 across the board. It just hasnt filtered through yet to the dealers. If you go for a £49 deal make sure you dont get a refurbed box. Apparently, thats how sky get rid of any faulty boxes they have had in for repair, just tell the guy that you want a new box and when it comes check he uses a box in an official sky+ box and not one in a dodgy brown box.

just got it for 49.99 with free installation!!!
they were saying the best deal they could do was £120 (from £180) but i was saying i really wasnt happy and they eventually said they would give it to me for £50. im over the moon!
they are coming on sunday afternoon to fit it!
roll on recording prison break, mean now i can goto sleep at a early time for a jog before work and not have to worry about missing the good stuff thats on the tele when i want to goto bed.

When they say 'Free Installation' what if you haven't got a phone line in one of the rooms that its being installed in? Do all boxes have to be connected to a phone line?
I was thinking of getting SKY+ downstairs then just having a normal extra box with multi-room upstairs.
What's the koo there then? I did ring up and got a loser on the line who really knew sweet fa! But basically offered the SKY+ adn multi-room full viewing package all installed for £50 then £50 a month i think.
