Is there a code to start your 172?

I just got a message from my garage, there plumbing in a new engine into my 172 complete with new ecu. The message they left me said they need a code to start it (sounded like a dashboard code?).

What code?
any ideas people?

That was me being sarcastic. My sincere apologies in your time of need.

However, as my way of saying sorry, just spoke to a mechanic at work, and he said you're pretty fooked unless you have the original key from the donor engine.

Can Paul at RStuning reprogram the ecu so that it programs itself to a new set of keys?

Thanks Dan you are the man! The engine I'm having installed is a brand new recon unit so they should have all that crap, I hate the garage I took my car too their soo useless it's taken them 6 weeks to do this one job for me.

Where would I find my code tho? is that in my key?

You need someone with the Renault clip laptop to program your code in.

Dealers can get the ciode but due to what it does they don't give them out plus its pointless without a way of entering it.

The engine isn't the issue the ECU/UCH are they want to check there all correct befoe they'll start the car

If its been disconnected for a bit thougy might need the clip connecting the cars and the code entering I don't expect there using a new ECU else this issue don't exist.

Thanks for all your help guys! I managed to make the ECU short and fire all 4 cylinders at the same time, hence the new engine.
