is this a bit steep?

rang up to get a quote from a reno specialist for cambelt and coolant pump change

they also quoted me for the cam pulley (on top of the kit) and aux belt change

all for 550 parts and labour.

no disrespect to the garage but i thought this is fairly steep! dare i say it, the stealers might even be cheaper than that!!

infact ive just rang the stealers and its around the same price altho the aux belt not included.

comments??

how much is the coolant pump and cambelt kit anyway?
i last done the cambelt in 2006 and the genuine kit was 55 quid from GSF at the time

I dont think its a quote for a sport, although the orginal poster didnt make that very clear

GSF have the water pump around 33 quid (ex VAT) and cambelt tensioner kit at 50 (ex VAT)


is there any way of telling from their coding system whether these are OEM or not?

should i just buy them and get someone fit as it would seem cheaper?

have been able to source the parts and got a considerably cheaper labour quote from these guys in leicester which ive used once before and were very good.

as i've said 4,000,000 times, MAKE SURE WHOEVER YOU USE HAS THE SPECIALIST RENAULT TOOLS TO DO THE JOB!!

the last time i hacd it done, i'm near sure there was no specialist tools used by my mechanic. whats the consequences of that?

Aux belt will cost about £20. Just got my cambelt kit(Gates) today for £35 including delivery.
