Is this a down grade ?

  Clio_Smart
I had the same clio as this but a 1999 and it was 3 door it was modded but i have gone off clio's now so is sold it but it was the same clio as this when it was standard.

Would you say the fiesta is a down grade compaired to the standard clio ?

The fiesta has alloys and is all colour coded thats all the difference really as the clio had manual windows and cd player well and central locking. Also the fiesta is 1.25 zetec i suppose it would be faster.

I havent brought it only seen a picture but thinking of going to view and i know it needs a clean if i did get it it would look showroom condition lol

Opinions please

yup thats down a peg or two imo

look at it this way, you have little to no performance mild/average handling so what you want is the safest car and the most reliable which i belive would still be the clio unless you were unlucky, the image is no comparison although thats no super car the modern look of the clio vs the old look of the ford means that lowered and on some tastefull alloys perhaps colour coded the clio would be streets ahead, oh and its more practical being a 5dr !

imo of course

Thats definitely not a downgrade IMO.

OK, they are ugly, but....

They handle excellently, even for a fairly "mundane" model, and that engine is superb, very revvy and sounds really nice for what it is.

Cracking cars those mate.

If your clio was a 1.2 8v and the festa is a 1.25 zetec then its an upgrade. The Zetec engines are fantastic and a 1.25 fiesta will be alot quicker than a 1.2 clio, even the 16v. The fiesta's handle well, just look dated and only have the one airbag.

Cheers guys i agree it doesnt look that nice its ok with the coloured bumper and sides .The engine side of things the fiesta beats it all ends up with the more reliable engine its faster and the fiesta dont sound to bad.

I think its an upgrade , im thinking of going for the facelift one but might end up getting the shape above.

Remember, this is the very chassis the Ford Puma was based on, and most people on this forum will agree they do handle very well, so why anyone would say a 1.2 8v clio is a step up from one of those beats me.

Go for a Mk5 Zetec S - should be pretty cheap by now, I had an X plate one for 6months back in 2000. Handled very well and had bumpers and skirts that no other Mk5 Fiesta had.

Im only going to spend 2k.

The zetec s is to much insurance.

Im getting a fiesta as i only want a nice simple standard car till i save up for a nice car as im a apprentice electrician and by the time i am i a qualified spark a few months in ill have a few quid to spend on a tt or something.

I like the facelift model but aint in the 2k range.

Yea everyone says they have good engines i think once i give it a real good clean inside and out it will do me for a while.

Iknow its a downgrade compared to my modded clio but im out of the modding phase now and i think the fiesta is better standard than the clio standard mk2 ph1.

least its not a 1.3 8v, they are from the dark ages and rattle like a good un (mum has the newer shape than yours but the 1.3 version)

handles ok though imo

that zetec lump aint as good as the punto 1.2 16v engine though (85bhp, loved to be revved!!!). I had the punto, mate had the fiesta, and i beat him every time :),

cat D is the slightest form of damage and has been categorised because the damage came to 60% of the cars value or thereabouts

its a nationwide search for cars less than 5 years old, i'm not that much of a r****d lol
