Is this a reasonable price?

My car's due its 74k service, which will also be the cambelt jobby. I've been quoted £600 (including a service) by Rentech and I "always" take my car there and have never been anywhere else with it, over the last three years of owning the car.

I've been to a local Renault specialist who has quoted me £730, which also includes the aux. belt kit/fitting, etc...

I'm not sure if Rentech's price included the aux. belt kit too so I'll have to call them and double check but does £730 sound reasonable?

  330i. E30 Touring.
Rentech will change the aux belt if they're doing the cambelt.

Personally, I'd take it to a specialist over Renault, even if the specialist was slightly more expensive..

Oh yeh, I'd never take it to Renault. This other specialist who quoted me £750 is literally 2mins from me whereas Rentech's a good hour drive. Not that far but it all makes the difference :) I'll try give Dave/Mike a call tomorrow as they didn't answer when I tried earlier.

I bought a high mileage 172 that had Full Rentech history and it was the best 172 i've ever driven!

If they were closer, i'd deffinately use them.

Ok. I have spoken to Dave @ Rentech and the quote I was given was for what I mentioned before, but excluding the actual aux. belt kit. It included the aux belt but not the complete kit. With the kit included, we'd be talking approx. £715.

I've used Rentech on my bus for nearly 5 years now! And it runs very well indeed . In fact it's there ATM having another service :)

Cheers for the comments.

As to prices... we charge a standard 4 hour labour charge for cambelt change and accessory belt kit , saving over an hour on book time.

Service wise if booked with a cambelt change its something like 1.5 hour extra if I remember correctly.

We change the following on 72 k services.......

oil , oil filter, sump washer, spark plugs, air filter, pollen filter, brake fluid, engine coolant, gearbox oil.

You also get a proper Renault clip system diagnostic test and we also clear down all memorised codes from all computers.

Our labour rate is £50+vat per hour, the rest is parts.
If you want a slightly cheaper service request non-genuine parts as this saves a bit of cash for example... Cambelt kits are £150+vat Genuine, non-gen I can do them for £99+vat and they are just as good as the genuine kits.

The best thing to do at Rentech is just pay the money regardless of whether you think it's expensive or cheap. The service you get is outstanding and you can trust their work.

Service, cambelt, aux belt, new front discs/pads/hoses, etc... all done :) Thanks Rentech! :)

Had a "slight" problem once I was about to get onto the A3(m) but all was sorted within an hour'ish. Haha!

So £440 for service and belts? (based on non genuine)

My mate did the same. Googled Rentech and Rentech Repairs came up so he went there... not realising it was a different one. Silly silly boy. I spoke to Mike about this before and he wasn't best pleased about it... for obvious reasons. However, the majority of his current and future customers come via word of mouth, etc... and it's those people who will say Rentech, Portsmouth.
