Is this normal for insurance

  Clio MK 4
Last year i got my insurance from flux for £760 fully comp with mods declared etc. That was with 3 yrs ncb.

Now my insurance is up for renewal and so made a quote onlibe from them with all same details as last year except with 4 yrs ncb and it came out as £750!!

Only 10£ cheaper with an extra ncb!!!!!

Phone them, say you want to renew but you have been quoted £ xxx (pick a figure) with x, y and z companies and can they match it.

Chances are they will.

Id be cheecky and say youve got quotes at least £100 less than previously paid.

Bon chance.

cheapest after that is £860 with greenlight. after that its like 1k plus which is a joke as i am 22 with 4yrs ncb lol

If you do an online quote with Flux it always comes out more expensive than the renewal quote they send for some reason .

My renewal quote goes up every year with Flux . I just get a better quote elsewhere and they match it .

Flux wanted proof i had a cheaper quote last year . I sent them one i got from Ashbourne insurance , job done :)

try directline mate. I was paying 980 last year with Admiral, just renewed today with directline, 23, 3 years NCB, 1 accident in my name, also my GF on the plicy who is only 21 and only just driving 3 years. £580 well pleased:D

ooo got one from privilige for £573 that doesnt include mods yet as will ring them and see how much extra but it good start

what farkin mods have you got, any GT28s under that bonnet? ;)
Seems steep for age and NCB. You must have speeding/previous incidents surely?

If they're doing that why not just go with ashbourne? I would, easier than messing about sending proof and serves them right for not believing you.

Iv done churchil flux greenlight privelige directline admiral elephant bell...

Had my renewal come through ealier in the in year when I still had the 172 for £1500 from flux, never even did any other quotes as I knew they'd be the cheapest by a mile (i'm 20). Rang them up and told them admiral had quoted cheaper and they dropped it to £1300, then promptly put it back up for the meggy :(.

try direct line mate

im 22 with 2yrs ncb theyve insured me and the mrs (21) for £800 inc legal protection. Without her and legal it would have been £740

  182 Cup
Pays to shop around, mine's just come up for renewal and I'm 28. With all mods £590 from Flux, £745 from HIC, and £430 from Greenlight.

I have 4 yrs ncb and wondered if it worth protecting them? Do you lot protect them or not? It costs a fair bit more which is annoying

I dont think privilage will insure you with mods unless you're over 25

I've just gone with Chrissknott. 25yrs old, 2yr NCB, all mods declared (sports cat, cat back exhaust) - less than your renewal quote! :)

Give them a go. Adrian Flux was my second best.

no convictions or anything.

alloys, exhaust and induction kit is what im declaring

Have you got any more mods? Flux can get cheaper with more mods because you look like you'll be more careful with your pride and joy,
Mine's 500 with flux 33, 5+ ncb all mods 240 bhp cup. Valued at 11k

They won't always meet prices from other companies.

I've just got off the phone with Admiral. They've only been dropping my renewal each year by a few quid (they have always been cheapest though).

This time, Direct Line were £140 cheaper. So phoned up Admiral with details of my other quote and the maximum they would take off their quote was 15% (they wouldn't budge past this figure) which was about 1/2 way. So told her I didn't want to renew, expecting her to go away and say they would match it, but she just cancelled it.

Switched to Direct Line, now paying £510 (with hire car and legal cover) for 12 months, 4 years ncb, age 24.

As I've said on numerous threads, his age will go against him, but the postcode will have a massive effect on it too.

Tbf, the quote he got originally is very good for his age, considering the type of car that the 172 is. I was paying that on the 182 just 2 years ago and I'm 33. Nil points, and no convictions, driving since I was 17 and over 9 years no claims (of which most insurers stop paying attention after 5+).

But I live in a category F postcode - though fcuk knows why. Bolton inbreds dragging down any postcode beginning BL... :(

I live in harrogate which has very low crime rate. one of the lowest.

Unfortunately m8, its happening everywhere. Spotted this last week...

...and a high-ish risk car such as an RS just causes the insurers to panic a bit and start to add £ to the premium.

Could be worse. I had a £200 increase between years 3 and 4 when I had my Punto GT - same house, same car, same me! That was a proper WTF? moment when that renewal came through....;)
