Basically I had a 1.2 8v corsa and then went to a 172. So obviously the difference was loads. I've had the car for 2 weeks now and i get the feeling its got slower. Don't know if its because im used to it or i'm expecting more. Don't get me wrong it is quick. But i feel that saxo vtr's 106 gtis and other cars like that arnt much slower. not that iv raced any.

Unfortunately the real quick feeling of any car is short lived. They always feel as if they get slower. Its just you getting used to it. Drive really slowly for a few days and then boot it again the feeling comes back

ive had my 172 for nearly 2 weeks now too its just cause your getting used to it i think same with me, i always look at the speedo to remind me it is goin as quick.

Have a quick toy with some cars when accelerating onto a motorway and you will be happy again. Especially if it's something like a Crossfire or Z4 (below 3.0) as they will expect to blow you off the road, and will not!

Then you will be like.....'VTR??...what VTR?'

My P1 doesnt feel as if its getting slower, but my 182 did yeah. Still loved it though :)

I guess but i'll get spanked on yet if i did it with a vtr theyl expect me to be alot quicker when actually im not, making them feel good n me feel slower lol

I drove my dads car the other day just a 2.2 litre c5 and when i had the corsa that fellt so quick lol. Then i went back in it the other day and i was like  on how slow and not responsive it was compared to my 172 so made me feel better.

I found that the clio got really slow really quickly, but it's only cause you have got used to it. An evo would feel slower after driving it everyday for 6 weeks so don't panic.
Driven correctly your car should blow away most things in it's class (standard).

If you are struggling with VTR's, your car is bust! I had one in my boot whilst going through a 1 mile long contra-flow, restricted to 30mph, which began to annoy me. When I cleared the roadworks, I opened up the taps and he was lost within 10 seconds.

glad im not only one that gets used to em to quickly.

Is it me or do 172's seem to take a while to get going but when you hit 4.5 to 5k in revs in really goes

Get one of your mates to drive your car & floor it with you in the passenger seat, you'll think its faster then.

SURLY that would eradicate the kick your car gives you at 5k , instead smoothing torque band out.

^^ No it wouldnt change the Kick at 5000 ish but it would give it more power low down therefore the kick wouldnt feel so great, as it would be smoother
